Jade Evolution
- Recreational/intermediate mixed team practicing minimum 1x/week starting at the beginning of May.  The regular team practice is on Monday evenings. Minimum 1x/week means you are required to make up missed practices to  have at least 12 practices before the Montreal festival  on July 26-27.  Minimum 1x/week also means that additional practice can be arranged on Wednesdays or Fridays for those who want  more.
- Off-season indoor paddling 1x/week on Monday evenings is encouraged, especially for less experienced members or those who do not have other regular training and sports.

 festivals:
Summer Splash or Shawinigan : June 28 or July 5
  Montreal : July 26-27
Quebec Cup (maybe) : Sept 20-21

Fees
For now we are looking for commitment to the Montreal festival on July 26/27.
- Jade Dragons : $200 for 2x/week practice from May-July, the Boston or Lachine festival registration fee, and the Montreal festival registration fee.
- Jade Evolution : $150 for 1x/week practice from May-July, the Summer Splash or Shawinigan festival registration fee, and the Montreal festival registration fee.
- Indoor practices are already underway.  New recruits have a few practices to try it out before committing, then we will work out an adjusted indoor fee.

Which team is most suitable for me?
Not everyone fits into the same mold. Our club offers a lot of flexibility. The difference in practice commitment is the most obvious factor, but there can be others. Here are some examples:

- I am a rookie who wants to practice 2x/week. I would like to start with the Jade Evolution team.
- I will practice 2x/week but my fitness is not up to the level of the competitive team. The paddling practices get or keep me in shape. The Jade Evolution team is more suitable for me.
- I am an experience paddler but my schedule is very busy so the Jade Evolution team is more appropriate for me this year.

- I am a beginner who is fit and sportive. I am ready to practice hard to get my paddling skill to a level sufficient for the Jade Dragons team.
- I am a very experienced paddler but my schedule does not allow me to attend regular 2x/week practices. I would like to paddle with the Jade Dragons team if there is a spot and I will train diligently on my own.

FAQ
Do I need to purchase equipment?
No. Paddles and lifejackets are provided at practices and festivals. Some paddlers like to have their own equipment but it is not necessary.

Are there other costs?
A Jade Dragons club shirt is $35 if you do not already have one. There are parking fees at Parc Jean Drapeau as with other city of Montreal parks. Contact us for up to date information. The park can be accesed by metro Parc Jean Drapeau. Some of us carpool.

Festivals are 2 days?
Yes, major festivals like the Montreal International festival are full weekend events.  We need you on both days espcially at Montreal where we will register both of our teams! Smaller festivals are 1 day. Advise us well in advance if you cannot attend so we can make arrangements. The dragonboat requires a minimum number of paddlers to compete.

I would like to paddle but I can't swim.
No worries. Lifejackets are provided at practices and festivals. The boats are very stable. We have never tipped in 12 years
