Why paddle?
Paddling on a boat is a pleasure. Each practice is an escape from the city. A solid stroke feels great. 20 paddlers making solid strokes in sync feels incredible! Dragonboating is an excellent team sport.

Why paddle with Jade?
Tradition. Originally, the Restaurant Jade Garden - Poon Kai dragonboat team, we have been paddling since the inception of the Montreal International Dragon Boat Race Festival in 1995.

Our club. The Jade Dragons are expanding to offer more choices of commitment level. The multiple teams provide mutual support - being a reserve of extra paddlers for out of town festivals, empty spots on practice boats are filled by others to make up or get additional practice time, fundraising efforts can be combined. During the summer our mixed teams practice twice per week until the Quebec Cup in late September. We are a Montreal Dragon Boat Select Club which gives us some benefits including priority for practice timeslots.

Our coach. The Jade Dragons are coached by Fred Heese, former head coach of the very successful Greater Toronto Dragon Boat Club. Fred has great experience coaching all levels of teams, from recreational teams to the national team. We focus on deep long strokes, a smooth gliding boat, and teamwork.

Give paddling a try! We offer 3 practices for you to try it out. We practice at the Olympic Basin on Ile Notre-Dame.
